Being in Love
What is it to Be in Love?
We all know about falling in love. We’ve seen the movies, heard the stories, and many of us have experienced the feeling of falling in love… but what is it to Be in Love?
Falling in love is that swept away feeling. It’s that “can’t stop thinking about him or her” feeling. It drives us to put aside our rational thinking, to be spontaneous and to say and do things we wouldn’t normally do or say. It may even inspire us to be brave. Brave enough to make promises and proposals…
That is what falling in love is. It’s a temporary feeling that comes and goes in waves. We fall in and out of love many times in our lifetimes. We fall in love with people, puppies, toys and food. I say it comes in waves because that puppy you fell in love with 3 years ago, may be the same dog that chewed up the $300 pair of shoes you fell in love with last week, or the single neurosurgeon from New York that you fell in love with while on vacation in Italy who turned out to be an out of work actor from Los Angeles with $50,000 in credit card debt. Where did the love go?
Falling in and out of love is part of the cycle of life, its just part of the journey we’re each on in this lifetime. It teaches us just how temporary and overwhelming our emotions can be.
Then there’s Being in Love. Being in Love is being in the energy of Love. It’s different then falling in love, falling in love with someone or something implies an attachment to that person or thing. Being in Love is simply Being in the energy of Love, as if to be soaking in it. Feeling the Love around you, seeing Love happening around you, noticing the Love in everything. That is Being – in – Love.
Being Love is the ultimate Love challenge. Being Love is blissful, beautiful, humbling and rewarding. Being Love is the practice of emanating the energy of Love. It’s you being a conduit for Love to flow through. It is you expressing Love in everything you do. It’s you allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to show the world your heart, your emotions, your joy, and your pain. It is you completely open and transparent, free to give and to receive. No fear. No doubt. No hesitation. Just pure Love.
Try it on. Be Love for a day and see what happens. Now this isn’t something that you can fake, or pretend to be. You must fully embody the energy of love. Do that and then notice the impact that the presence of love makes in your world. Notice how others respond.
