Commitment
Here's a little something to consider.....
When we commit to ANYTHING, everything that is not in alignment with that commitment shows up. The "unaligned thing" comes to the forefront to challenge our commitment. The unaligned thing may be a belief. That belief is fearing for it's life. If it is exposed, it will literally be killed. This fear of death gets translated into reasons, symptoms, and sometimes even illnesses in an attempt to block us from fulfilling our commitment. An example would be committing to a monogamous relationship, and suddenly getting a call from an old lover, or committing to a diet and the next day a French bakery opens right next to your office.
The questions to ask yourself are:
What belief must I let go of in order to fulfill my commitment?
What part of me must die for me to fulfill my commitment?
How will my life be different if I fulfill my commitment?
If I fulfill my commitment, what part of me will die? How would that change my life? Who would I then Be?
Who do I have to Be now to fulfill my commitment?
What scares me about Being that person? What would I expect of myself if I where Being that person?
Although some of these questions may seem like the same question asked in a different way, they are each unique and should be addressed individually.
Sit down with a pad and paper, write down each question one at a time, and then be extremely honest with yourself and write down your answers.
Don't do this on your computer, there is a powerful process that happens in the brain when we take pen to paper. Let whatever comes out come completely out. Notice what you feel in your body as you do the exercise. Notice what you're feeling now as you're considering doing the exercise. Where in your body do you feel it? What is the emotion that you feel?
This is a very powerful exercise that, if done with reverence, will be very revealing and very freeing for you. Do it now. Just beginning the process will be very powerful.
